Three bombs were defused in two Egyptian provinces on Sunday, as voters move to cast their ballots on the first day of the House of Representatives' elections.
In Giza, bomb squads defused two IEDs that had been put into two plastic bags and planted outside a polling station in Kerdasa. The village is a stronghold for Islamist supporters of former president Mohamed Morsi where violent clashes occured between Morsi supporters and security forces in 2013.
In Fayoum, bomb squads were also summoned after a suspicious item, later found to be a bomb, was discovered outside another polling station.
Egyptian army and police forces have deployed more than 400,000 troops to secure the elections which end on December 2.
